Latest Updates from Our Project:

Shipping begins! + Projects We Love, GIR Edition 2
over 4 years ago – Wed, Nov 27, 2019 at 02:25:35 AM

The holidays are always an odd time for us here at GIR—on one hand, we're ready for a break from the fall onslaught of product development and production. And on the other hand, we can't stop for a second because the peak shipping season is just getting into frenzy mode. It's a great problem to have, of course. And we couldn't be happier to than to have your Kickstarter reward shipments be in the mix. Plus, we are (drumroll) ahead of schedule!

Shipping schedule

We started shipping rewards today (!) and made it through a solid block of packages. We'll ship through the day tomorrow as well, and then take a little break for Thanksgiving through the weekend. We'll be back at it on Monday December 2nd, and aim to have all packages shipped by the end of that week or early on in the next.

What to expect:

  • If you've completed your backer survey, your package will ship sometime between now and December 9th.
  • You'll receive a shipping notification, with tracking, when your package goes out.
  • If you don't receive a notification tomorrow/Monday/etc. and you're really excited and champing at the bit and feeling like dear-me-when-will-they-send-the-email-I-can't-take-the-suspense, we haven't forgotten you; your package is queued for processing!
  • If you haven't received a shipping notification by December 10th, check your spam folder and/or send us a note. Before that, sit tight! We're moving as quickly as we can.
  • Once all packages have shipped, we'll launch straws to the public on our website. If you get your straws, love them, and want more as stocking stuffers, you can place a pre-order on Backerkit between now and December 9th, or at GIR.co anytime after that!
  • If you have a question about your pledge or shipment, please email us at [email protected]. We won't share personal information about your pledge or shipment on the comments board; plus, you'll get an answer much quicker if you contact our support crew via email ;)

From chatting on internal message boards to spreading the word about a cool product or endeavor, as creators we often find ourselves connecting with other teams and seeing how we can lend a hand. Didn't want to wait another minute before sending out a note of thanks to everyone who joined us to bring these new straws to life! With 2,823 of you behind us, we're in such good company.

We've already built out BackerKit, and we're just waiting on their approval to launch surveys out to you all. Look out for an invite early next week; we'll be sending another update shortly beforehand so you'll have a heads-up. The delivery timeline we shared in our last update is still on track. I'm reposting it here for handy reference:

Delivery Timeline

  • October 21st-November 20th: Straws inbound to our warehouse (YEP)
  • November 7th: Campaign ends! (YAY!)
  • November 8th-12th: GIR team builds BackerKit surveys (AHEAD OF SCHEDULE)
  • November 13th-15th: BackerKit surveys launch to backers
  • November 20th-22nd: Inventory being received and organized
  • November 25th: Some orders may ship as early as this date!
  • November 27th-29th: GIR Warehouse Closed for Thanksgiving
  • Week of December 2nd: Most orders will ship this week
  • Week of December 9th: Last orders ship (late survey responses, unverified addresses, etc.)

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone for coming to the party and helping us make this campaign a huge success!

STRETCH GOAL ANNOUNCEMENT!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Nov 04, 2019 at 07:57:10 PM

Hi team,

We're in the home stretch! We've got straws on their way to us, and we're totally set up for on-time fulfillment.

Our office in Northern California was sidelined last week with a power outage related to wildfires in the area—the outage was preventative and our team & office are safe, but being without electricity and wifi for the better part of five days really threw us for a loop. Thanks to everyone who sent well-wishes our way!

Stretch Goals

We've run this campaign pretty conservatively, having learned in the past that sometimes as much fun as it is to pack lots of optimistic stretch goals in, delivering on time is even better ;) But we've designed something delightful and simple that we can manufacture and deliver without putting the rest of the campaign at risk: a sleek brass keychain that'll be the perfect travel companion to your straw kits.

To get this elegant piece of hardware, just add $5 to your pledge (same price for backers worldwide; no added shipping). We'll help out with the rest in BackerKit after the campaign!

Delivery Timeline

Here's where we are, and where we're going over the next few weeks:

  • October 21st-November 20th: Straws inbound to our warehouse
  • November 7th: Campaign ends!
  • November 8th-12th: GIR team builds BackerKit surveys
  • November 13th-15th: BackerKit surveys launch to backers
  • November 20th-22nd: Inventory being received and organized
  • November 25th: Some orders may ship as early as this date!
  • November 27th-29th: GIR Warehouse Closed for Thanksgiving
  • Week of December 2nd: Most orders will ship this week
  • Week of December 9th: Last orders ship (late survey responses, unverified addresses, etc.)

The above is just an estimate, of course, but we're in good shape with the shipment already on its way to us.

We're excited for all that's yet to come—especially all the holiday carols blasting through the warehouse speakers as we wrap up your packages and send them on their merry way in just a few weeks.

Love,

Sam and the GIR Team

Products We Love, GIR Edition
over 4 years ago – Fri, Oct 25, 2019 at 09:55:52 PM

The Kickstarter community is tight—and it's all about helping each other out. From chatting on internal message boards to spreading the word about a cool product or endeavor, as creators we often find ourselves connecting with other teams and seeing how we can lend a hand. Below, you'll find five projects (all with a "high power" theme) that were hoping for a little extra help getting the news out. Naturally, we volunteered!

The Kali – Antibacterial Dishcloth

There are just a few hours left in this campaign—jump in now if you're in the market for excellent antibacterial dishcloths. Tired of messy, beat-up sponges? Replace them with Kali. Kali cloths contain bamboo kun, a naturally occurring antibacterial found in living bamboo. The Kali absorbs a lot of liquid, washes any surfaces to perfection, and can be easily self-washed under a running tap.

Give’r Frontier Mittens | The Best Damn Mittens Ever

Give’r Frontier Mittens are all-leather exterior mittens made of premium cowhide, a superior insulation system, and a 100% waterproof (not just resistant or “kinda-sorta”... we’re talking 100%!) membrane. They will keep your hands nice and cozy—even in extreme cold.

Weightless Magellan Bags: +60% Extra Luggage Space!

Magellan vacuum bags allow you to neatly pack your belongings into the luggage case, and protect them from moisture and odors. Thanks to their special triple valve, it’s extremely easy to pump air out of the bags, and the compressed zipper won’t let it get back in. The vacuum seal lasts up to 45 days and saves you up to 60% of luggage space. With 2-3 Magellan bags, all your luggage is packed!

Flex: The Eco Hairbrush - Perfectly Cleansed Hair

There are 40,000 pores on your head and roughly 120,000 individual hairs—and there is no way you can wash them properly by using just your ten fingers! That’s where the Flex comes in—it's a set of two 100% Eco-Safe, specialized hairbrushes that provide perfect cleaning and combing for your hair, making them thick and super voluminous, while unclogging pores and clearing traces of shampoo.

The Whistler Windbreaker with Self-Healing Technology

Our friends over at Coalatree are at it again with their 8th campaign! The Whistler Windbreaker is perfect for travel, outdoors, and city life. With over 15 amazing features, the Whistler Windbreaker is the jacket of all trades. Self-healing, featherweight, and functional—it’s the jacket that does it all.
